DataStage TX (Mercator) Adapters

Pre-built integration with middleware and databases

Within the server environment, Mercator Enterprise Broker includes adapters that provide pre-built technical integration with a wide variety of business document sources and destinations, including middleware, files, databases, mail systems, and more.

Adapters are modular and completely reusable across multiple integration scenarios.

XML Adapter  - This adapter simplifies the mapping and presentation of XML documents.  It simplifies the handling of white space and escape sequences, and enables users to navigate the XML document using a collapsible tree metaphor.

FTP Adapter -This adapter allows Mercator Enterprise Broker to include FTP files automatically as input to a map or to initiate an FTP operation as a mapping output, fully automating the file transfer process.

E-mail Adapters - These adapters allow Mercator Enterprise Broker to create and send e-mail messages automatically as output from a map execution.  Adapters include Microsoft Exchange (MAPI), Lotus Notes and cc:Mail (VIM), and Internet Mail (SMTP/MIME).

Other E-Business Adapters - Resource adapters for SMTP/MIME, HTTP and LDAP simplify integration with Internet data.  These adapters are evoked at run time to 'get' or 'put' data using standard Internet communications protocols.

Middleware Adapters - These adapters allow Mercator to "get" and "put" data seamlessly via the API's of the Industry's most popular middleware including BEA Tuxedo and Message Q, Candle ROMA, IBM MQSeries, Microsoft MSMQ, Oracle AQ, and TIBCO Rendezvous.  Mercator Enterprise Broker is the integration solution IBM uses for its own internal SAP implementation.

Database Adapters - Database adapters allow a Mercator map to access a relational database directly, either locally or across the network, for both read and write operations using standard SQL.  Available adapters include ODBC, DB2, MS SQL Server, Oracle 7, Oracle 8 and 8i, and Sybase.

Application Adapters - Application-specific adapters automate the process of sending data to and receiving from specific applications from vendors like SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft.  For more details about integration with SAP applications, refer to the white paper Mercator E-Business Integration Broker Software In An SAP Environment, available from the Mercator Web site www.mercator.com

Security Adapters (optional) - The HTTPS and S/MIME adapters provide RSA security functionality, including directory and public key (PKI) access services, cryptographic  message syntax services, trust services, certificate services, key certificate and trust secure stores, and encryption and authentication services.

All adapters manage restart, recovery, and retry in combination with the Mercator Enterprise Broker integration server to ensure unit -of-work integrity and provide full interface auditability.

Ascential Adapters provide pre-built integration with a wide variety of technology resources, including middleware, files, databases, communication systems, and more.

Ascential Adapters feature a standard set of services implemented in a consistent, environment-independent manner that reduces the need for adapter-level programming and reduces maintenance costs.

Because Ascential Adapters are invoked transparently, through association with logical interface objects, changes in resources and applications-even the switch from one adapter to another-need not impact user-defined integration logic. And a small number of adapters can be reused across many logical interfaces.
